ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The instruction to give honour to whom its due is emphatical!  It's my pleasure therefore to acknowledge the fathers of Faith all over the world.  Both those that are living and those that have gone to meet with the Lord.  Most especially the missionaries that brought Christian Faith to the continent of Africa.  The Lord will never forget their labour of love for the expansion of His kingdom here on earth.

I would like to further acknowledge the living legends of Faith, especially from the great nation; Nigeria, West Africa.  Space will not permit me to mention names.  Your stand in the Faith has greatly imparted courage to me and made me what I am today.  You are fathers (role models) indeed.  Keep on the good works, your reward is certain.

I say a big thanks to my worthy friends in persons of Segun Olumide for his expert editing work and encouragement.  Also to Sam Akinteye, the author of the Insightful book:  Wisdom For Success.  Finally, to my elder friend, Pastor Harry Williams, for his wise counsel.  You are blessings to the world.

INTRODUCTION

When Jesus walked the face of the earth, He demonstrated such great love and power.  He dominated all forces of life.  Both living and non-living creatures respected His presence.  The tree, the sea and the wind obeyed His commands. Demons and other forces of darkness recognized Jesus and pleaded for His mercy.  The Bible says they cried out saying “What do you want from us, son of God?  Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?  Matthew 8:28-34.

The understanding of Jesus Staff of Rulership gave Him such an authority over all forces on earth.  Often, He would say, “I and my father are one”  John 10:30. What a knowing!

Something great and highly important is becoming elusive in the body of Christ today.  In which God, in His graciousness has decided to bring to the limelight for the benefits of His sons and daughters highly desiring to take their place in Him, even in the face of wicked oppositions the world over.

When God, Elohim, created man, He created him in His image and after His likeness, to rule and to exercise dominion over every thing He had created.  Unfortunately, man lost this authority to rule and reign to the devil through the disobedience of Adam, the first man ever created by God.

Over a period of time, the devil ruled over man, he brought forth sin, sickness, failure, poverty and hatred among men that were living according to his dictates.  But ion due times, God sent forth His son in the person of Jesus to deliver man out of the stronghold of the devil.  Through this great deliverance from the power of darkness, man was given back the authority he forfeited to the devil in Adam.

Apostle John the beloved, in the book of Revelation wrote  “… unto Him (Jesus) that loved us, washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto god and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever, Amen.  Revelation 1:5-6.

According to the Scripture, the New Creation man is a king!  A king ordained to rule and reign to the glory of God the Father through the Son, Jesus.

Today, most probably, majority of believers have the knowledge that they have been made kings and priests unto God to rule and reign in this world, but only few understand their Staff of Rulership that guarantees their place on earth.  Do you?

To every king, there is a Staff – a symbol of Power and Authority to rule and reign over a territory and a people.  Matthew 27:29.

Many believe that the name of Jesus is this Authority given to us to reign with, and they have tried using it with no desired result; not knowing that something qualifies them to be able to use the name of Jesus with result as stated in the word.

Without perfect understanding of this unequalled, glorious power and authority, many will still be ruled by what they are to rule over – intimidated, humiliated and frustrated by the devil.

This book:  The Staff of Rulership is a discovery, through the help of the Holy Spirit.  It deals with a subject out-rightly unknown to majority of believers, which constitutes the weakness and defeat in the lives of so many who have not discovered this great weapon of rulership.

I believe the time has come for as many that will agree with me in this timely revelation, to rule and reign as kings and priests they have been made, by the King of Kings of the earth.

The Bible says:  “The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers, which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression.  Isaiah 14:5-6.

It is time for the long awaited glorious manifestation of the sons of God.

Be ready!  I shall be taking you through a journey on the highway you are likely not to have traveled before.

The Spirit of God will be unfolding to you mysteries that will help you see yourself the way God sees you.

I welcome you on board!

CHAPTER ONE

YOUR STAFF OF RULERSHIP

How I wish to say, again and again, in every page of this book, that something great and highly important is becoming elusive in the body of Christ today.  In which God, in His graciousness has decided to bring to the limelight.  For the benefits of His sons and daughters highly desiring to take their place in Him, even in the face of wicked oppositions the world over.

To every kingdom, there is a king.  And to every king, there is a staff – Authority and Power to rule and reign over a territory and a people.

Jacob, the son of Isaac; the grandson of Abraham our progenitor, blessing his children before his departure to the life beyond said to Judah

“The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his”  Genesis 49:10 NIV.

Judah, which means Praise, was the fourth son of his father, Jacob- whose name was changed to Israel through a divine encounter with God.

Judah became a leader among his brothers.  The study of his family history reveals:  “Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brothers” Matthew 1:2.

Through the blessing pronounced on Judah by his father, the staff of rulership was given to him over his brothers.  Here is the result of the staff of rulership given to Judah, the strongest among his brothers:  “Behold the days come, says the Lord that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah” Jeremiah 31:31.

Also I Chronicles chapter 5 verse 2 says:  “For Judah prevailed above his brethren and from him came the Prince”.

Rulership is not only by right – of – birth, but by prevailing power.  Judah prevailed – became the strongest of his brothers and a Prince (Ruler) came from him.  The prevailing power is the ruling power.

THE PRINCE FROM JUDAH

Jacob, by the Spirit pronounced, “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his.  Genesis 49:10.

Now I present to you the key that unravel the mystery behind the above ancient pronouncement by Jacob, and how it is relevant to our lives today.   “…Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David has prevailed.

Remember, Jesus Christ is: “The Prince of Peace”  Isaiah 9:6 and “The Lion of the tribe of Judah” Revelation 5:5.

Yes!  Jesus is the Saviour, the Messiah, the Lord.  He has prevailed.  This, in essence, means the ruler’s staff and the obedience of the nations prophesied by Jacob, the father of the twelve patriarchs, finally came to Jesus – the centre of worship, and his brother (the church) to whom it belongs.

Now, Jesus Christ, the sacrificial lamb of the New Covenant, from the tribe of Judah the root of David has become the ruler of the kings of the earth – the monarch of the universe.

Apostle John wrote”  “The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Christ and He shall reign for ever and ever” Revelation 11:15.

Jesus Christ the righteous came to re-establish a kingdom of righteousness for His precious brothers and sisters living in the unrighteous world.  He came as the King of Righteousness and Peace.

The Bible records, “But about the son he says, Your throne O God will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom” Hebrews 1:8.

The wonderful revelation behind the above scripture is that the scepter (Ruler’s staff) which means Symbol of Power of the kingdom of Jesus, the Son of God who is called Christ is indeed – RIGHTEOUSNESS

The scripture further says concerning Him:  “You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity” therefore God, even your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows” Hebrews 1:9; Psalm 45:6-7.  What a secret to the anointing!

Now, to every one of us individual believers made kings and priests unto God, our Staff of Rulership on earth as a citizen of the kingdom where righteousness is a Symbol of Power shall indeed be – RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Here is a prophetic statement, the scriptural backup for my submission:  “In righteousness shall you be established, you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear:  and from terror; for, it shall not come near you” Isaiah 54:14.

In righteousness you will be well known and respected even by the forces of darkness. Righteousness is the real solution to all oppression.

RIGHTEOUSNESS UNFOLDED

Righteousness makes a majestic royal kingship with supreme royal authority!  Righteousness is all that God demands and approves, and is ultimately found in Christ.  It is the trademark of Christianity!  A vital force to a victorious and excellent Christian life.  A believer who is not acquainted with the teaching about Righteousness is a babe, he is not yet matured enough to handle spiritual matters.

The writer of the book of Hebrews says:  “Infact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again”  You need milk, not solid food!  Any one who lives on milk being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness but solid food is for the matured, who have constantly trained themselves to distinguish good from evil”  Hebrews 5:12-14.

A perpetual infant in the realm of the Spirit is an easy target for demons!  Because his spiritual muscles has not been trained well enough to stand in his place of spiritual authority and power.  Such a believer, the Bible says, is not different from a slave.

“As long as the heir is a child, he is not different from a slave, though he owns the whole estate”  He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by the father”  Galatians 4:1-2.

As long as a believer is a babe in the teachings about righteousness, unconscious of whom he is, he is not better than a slave though he is a king ordained to reign. But his perfect understanding of the teachings of Righteousness and the consciousness of it will make master of him, regardless of his/her age.

Since righteousness is such a dynamic power and authority that we cannot, and must not be ignorant of as citizens of God’s kingdom on earth, what then is righteousness?

Righteousness is a nature:  the nature of God – the very life and character of God imparted into our human spirit at new birth.

Righteousness gives the ability to stand in the presence of God without the sense of guilt, condemnation and inferiority complex.

Also, righteousness gives the ability to confront the devil and his demons of hell in boldness without any atom of fear and intimidation.  The Bible says:  “The righteous are as bold as a Lion” Proverbs 28:1.

RIGHTEOUSNESS FORFEITED

The Lord God created Adam in His image (spirit being) and likeness (righteous nature).  God said to Adam; dominate, rule and subdue the whole earth.  He made for him a suitable helper, Eve.  He committed into his hands, the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.  God said to Adam, “Eat of all the fruit of the Garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it, you will surely die”  Genesis 2:15-17.

Adam and his wife Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil through the deceit of the devil and they became spiritually dead – separated from God.  The life of God in them was corrupted.  Instantly, they lost the ability to stand before the presence of God.  They lost the righteous nature of God in them and became the devil’s incarnate.

The Bible says:  “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the Garden in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him where are you?  And he said I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself”  Genesis 3:8-10.

In the Garden of Eden, God comes in the cool of the day to have fellowship with Adam and his wife, but this day that Adam committed treasonable felony, by eating the fruit he was told not to eat from, his fellowship with God was affected.  He lost the ability to stand in the righteous presence of God, unlike before.

For an act of disobedience, the Lord God sent Adam out of the Garden of Eden to labour for his living, Genesis 3:23.  Adam lost friendship with God.  All men lost friendship with God in Adam.

UNRIGHTEOUSNESS MULTIPLIED

After Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden, Adam met with his wife in his fallen nature and gave birth to sons and daughters in his own image and likeness (sinful nature); not the image and likeness of God (righteous nature), but in Adam’s fallen image and likeness.

The Bible says, “And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth” Genesis 5:3.

Seth was Adam and Eve’s third son, a substitute for Abel who was murdered by his brother, Cain.  This account marks the generation of the unrighteous people on earth.  As men began to multiply on the face of the earth, evil imagination and wicked acts also became multiplied.  This made God repent of creating man on earth and it led to total destruction of every living being, except Noah and his family.

The Bible says, “Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord.  Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.  Noah had three sons:  Shem, Ham and Japheth.  Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and full of violence.  God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people for the earth is filled with violence because of them.  I am surely going to destroy humanity from the face of the earth”  Genesis 6:9-13.

After the flood that destroyed humanity from the face of the earth, evil persisted in the heart of men – unrighteousness, injustice, falsehood and dishonesty became a way of life for the people, contrary to the plan of God for men on earth.

But in due time, God sent forth His son in person of Jesus to deliver man out of the stronghold of the devil.  Through this great deliverance, man was given back the authority he forfeited to the devil in Adam.  Man’s dominion-mandate to rule and reign on earth was regained.

RIGHTEOUSNESS RESTORED

“See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.  Each man will be a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like stream of water in a desert and shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land”  Isaiah 32:1-2.

The gift of salvation is righteousness!  God takes away sin and its power from the heart because sin is a matter of the heart.  This is done to bring us back to the original plan and purpose of God for man at creation.

We were all sinners and had fallen short of the glory of God.  We did not deserve to be saved, but God, in His mercy and love, looked down on us and gave His only begotten son (Jesus) for our sins – past, present and future!

The Bible records of Him: “…you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nations”  Revelation 5:9.

In Old Testament times, sin was atoned for (covered) yearly by the shedding of blood of animals.  In the New Testament era, sin was remitted (removed) completely by the blood of the lamb.  Jesus Christ, once and for all.

The Bible says, “In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding”  Ephesians 1:7-9.

In Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed by God.  Jesus took our place for us to take His place.  The son of God came into the world to destroy sin, and to disarm the forces behind sin – the devil and his cohort of hell.

The Bible says:  “God made Him who has no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21.

In Christ Jesus, we have been reconciled to God and righteousness has been restored to us.  Through this restored righteousness, intimate relationship and fellowship with God has been made possible.  We have become participators, sharers together in the divine nature.  We have become members of the Lord’s body, of His flesh, and of His bones. Ephesians 5:30.

How beautiful!  We can now come into the presence of God without the sense of guilt, condemnation and intimidation.  This righteousness of God through Christ Jesus is available to all humans in the world today.  Available to as many as many as will come to God the Father through the son – Jesus.

The Bible says, “If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and shall believe in your heart that god has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” Romans 10:9-10.  Thank God I am born again.

If you have believed and confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, righteousness has been imparted into your spirit as a gift from God, you have become righteous –the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Righteousness is our Staff of Rulership that guarantees our place on earth!  The understanding and consciousness of it will give us such dynamic authority and power over all forces of darkness in heaven, on earth and under the earth! It will make us a force to be reckoned with in life.  Hallelujah!

MY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD

It was on the 31st of December; the last day of the year.  A season of celebration.  As a usual practice, my people had all gone to Church to shout ‘Happy New Year’ in a religious way as Church goers.

Left alone at home as an antagonist of the Christian faith; a practicing Muslim, born and raised a Muslim, I was enjoying myself watching a movie when a voice said to me:  “What are you doing at home alone?  Get up and go to a Church now!  The  voice was compelling.  I felt so much unease.  It was my encounter with the Lord.

Though morally okay, I was spiritually dead – separated from Christ, excluded from citizenship of Israel and foreigners to the covenants of promise.  I was without hope and without God in the world.  Ephesians 2:12.

So, I got up, entered into my room picked up a New Testament (Gideon) Bible that I was using in finding fault against every one who come to preach Christ to me then.  Reluctantly, I walked into a Church.  It was a time for my change.

Before the shout of ‘Happy New Year’ celebration, the preacher preached and gave opportunity to those that were ready to give their lives to God.  Right where I was standing, by faith, I decided to accept the glorious offer of salvation.

The Bible says, “By grace are you saved through faith” Ephesians 2:8.  The preacher led us in confessing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.  By the abundance of God’s grace, righteousness was instantaneously restored to my spirit.  My dead human spirit was imparted with the life and nature of God by the Spirit of God.  Peace came into my heart!  I became a New Creature in Christ – a member of the family of God.  What a brand new life in Jesus.

In a joyous mood, celebrating my new life in Christ and a new year altogether, an unprecedented occurrence that I will never forget in my life struck  - an amazing drama of my absolute triumph over the devil and his agents.

Are you interested in knowing what its all about?  If yes, then read on with imagination!

MY ABSOLUTE TRIUMPH OVER THE DEVIL

On my way home from the Church, a guy was coming in front of me and I was just going on my own way without any suspicion of who he was.  Suddenly, he stood in front of me, grabbed my T-shirt by the neck and began to give me some heavy blows.  Strong odour of alcohol was oozing out of his body.  It was then I knew he was heavily drunk.  Effort to free myself from him proved abortive.  Then I learnt by experience that its not easy to fight a drunk.

Still holding my shirt, he sat down on the major road and a car was coming towards us.  People watching us began to shout, ‘Leave the road!  Leave the road!  In his response, he said ‘we are going to die together in this road today’.  What was my offence?  He said I stole his wristwatch sent to him from USA by his brother, which I knew nothing about.

So, when I realized that he was ready to die and I was not, forcefully, I removed my T-shirt and the inner wear into his hand and started running.  Quickly, he got up and started pursuing me, and then I ran into a corner where he could not see me.  In frustration, he turned back staggering, looking everywhere to get me. Surely, he was on a mission for the devil

In summary, I managed to get home; I couldn’t sleep throughout that night.  While I was thinking of why that has to happen to me, a consolation came from within me:  “It is because you are special in the hand of God”.  Oh!  What a great consolation from the Spirit of God.

David said, “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul” Psalm 94:19.

Coming out the second day – 1st of January, my people were amazed to see my face swollen like the face of a defeated boxer.  After recounting the story, they said:  “The devil was so angry because he has lost the battle over your soul”.  What a great loss to the devil and, a greater gain to the kingdom of God.

Thank God I am saved.  Saved to save the world from the bondage of corruption.  Commanded by God to write, teach and to speak on the subject of righteousness – the most important message highly needed in the world now.  The message of edification and exhortation – awakening the people of God worldwide to the righteousness of God which is by faith.

The plan of the devil was to keep me in perpetual darkness so that I will not fulfill destiny just like he wants to do with you.  Reject him and his agent today, and come into the kingdom of light where god will empower your destiny to shine like stars through Christ Jesus.

Life in Christ is a life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.  This has been my experience since I gave my life to God through His son Jesus Christ.  Now, I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  Sin and its effects – fear, sickness and lack have no power over me any more. My dead human spirit has been imparted with the life and nature of God by the Spirit of God.

CHAPTER TWO

ORDAINED TO REIGN

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” Romans 5:17.

Sin and death entered into the world through the disobedience of Adam.  But in replacement of sin and death, came grace and righteousness as a free gift from God through which we reign as kings on earth.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth in His earthly ministry demonstrated such great love and power.  He dominated all forces of life.  Both living and non-living creatures respected His presence.  The tree, the sea, the wind and the wave obeyed His commands.  Demons and other forces of darkness recognized Him and pleaded for His mercy.  The Holy scripture says, “In this world we are like Him” I John 4:17.

Jesus dominated all forces of life.  He subdued all power of darkness and ruled as king.  We are to live like Him here on earth - to dominate, subdue, reign and rule over all power of darkness as new creation in Christ Jesus.

One word that perfectly describes the new creation man is that he is a ‘king’.  A king with authority!  If you have been taught negatively, to see yourself as nobody, a sinner and a wanderer in the world, you need a new mindset – the mindset of somebody special:  the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and, a king ordained by God to reign and rule on earth.  Get that straight!

SURE FOUNDATION FOR REIGNING

“His intent was that now through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.  In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence” Ephesians 3:10-1`2.

Every plan of God has a foundation – a principle or a fact that something is based on and that it grows from.  The Bible says about God:  “Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of your throne” Psalm 89:14 NIV.

If you don’t understand the foundation of God’s eternal plan which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, you will miss His blessings!  This is fundamental to your reigning on earth.

Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do?  If the righteous lack understanding of the foundation (principle and fact) of God’s righteousness in him, he cannot reign in life!  Even though he is ordained to reign.

Anything built on a faulty foundation will be faulty, no matter how beautiful it looks.  The righteous need correct knowledge and absolute understanding of the doctrines of righteousness for them to have the benefits of salvation.

David says, “Open to me the gate of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.  This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter”  Psalm 118:19-20.

The right gate to the presence of the Lord is the gate of righteousness.  It is the gate of the Lord.  Every gate leads somewhere.  Righteousness as a gate leads to the throne room of God the Father – the throne of grace.

David also said, “The Lord leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake” Psalm 23:3.

There is the path of righteousness that you need to know for you to live a successful Christian life on earth.  Righteousness as a path is the path of life; peace and joy unlimited in the Holy Ghost.

The Bible says, “In the way of righteousness is life; and the pathway thereof there is no death” Proverbs 12:28.

The pathway of righteousness is the path I hope to unveil to you in this chapter as revealed to me by the Lord.  Its understanding will give you a sure foundation for reigning in life.

REAL RIGHTEOUSNESS

One major difference between the believers and the unbelievers is the gift of righteousness in the believers.  And that is what God wants us to understand and unveil to our world.

Righteousness is a gift to us from God!  Every one that has accepted Jesus Christ has been given abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness to reign in life.  Romans 5:17

Righteousness is a nature:  the nature of God – the very life and character of God imparted into our human spirits when we were born again.

The Bible says, “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes” Romans 10:4

Did you read that?  Righteousness for everyone who believes!  To us, righteousness is free, but God paid dearly for it with the life of His son Jesus, the saviour of the world.  Jesus Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness.

So many things have been said and written about the doctrine of righteousness that are not true.  Some try to replace self-righteousness with the righteousness that comes from God.  These are the type of people Apostle Paul was talking about in his epistle to the Romans:

“Brothers my heart desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.  For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.  Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness”  Romans 10:1-3.

There is the God-kind of righteousness, which is by faith; and there is the man-kind of righteousness, which is by works.  The righteousness of man can in no way replace the righteousness of God.  Never!

Jesus said, “For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven”  Matthew 5:20.

Amazing!  What is Jesus talking about?  A valid righteousness that will exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees.  How on earth can our righteousness exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law?

These men (Scribes and Pharisees) were specially trained to observe rules and regulations to the letter.  That was why they were against Jesus to the grave.  Because He did not come to preach the observance of the law, but faith in God that justifies the ungodly.  Romans 4:5.

So, for our righteousness to exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, it must be an imparted righteousness from God which is by faith, not of works, but a free gift of God to all that believes.

Righteousness is the life and nature of God.  The man who has received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness has received the life and nature of God, and has become the righteousness of God in Christ.  All he needs do to enjoy his new status is to submit to God’s righteousness that qualifies him, instead of establishing his own self-righteousness.

David spoke of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness without works.  The Bible records that Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.  A man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.  So, boast not of your self-righteousness but of the righteousness of God which is by faith to everyone that believes.

This scripture says it all:  “And by Him (Jesus) all that believes are justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses”  Acts 13:39.

Stop struggling to please God by your human strength.  Start flowing in an unhindered fellowship with Him through the Spirit.  Without proper understanding of God’s righteousness in you, you will keep struggling and failing until you fall out of fellowship with God.  Stop struggling!

The only permanent solution to the problem of man is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  The God-kind of righteousness brings liberty – the liberty of Christ.  John 8:36.  Nothing makes free like righteousness!

WHO ARE THE RIGHTEOUS?

Apostle Paul wrote:  “A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.  No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart; by the Spirit not by the written code.  Such a man’s praise is not from men but from God.  Romans 2:28-29.

A man is not righteous if he is only one outwardly.  But a man is righteous if he is one inwardly.  Righteousness is of the heart; by the Spirit.

When all you know about righteousness is the outward show – how you look, how you talk and how you walk; you are having an unbalanced perspective of the righteous life.

The Bible says:  “For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” Romans 5:14.

Righteousness is first of all who you are before what you do and how you look!  No matter how you try to paint your self – righteousness before God, they are like filthy rags in His sight. Isaiah 64:6.

Above all, the righteous are those that have been made righteous with the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

The righteous are those that have been washed, purified and sanctified by the blood of Jesus at redemption.

The righteous are those that have believed in their heart and confessed with their mouth the Lordship of Jesus over their lives.

The righteous are those that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit – the new creature.

The righteous are those that have put off the old self to be made new in the attitude of their mind and have put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The righteous are the temple of the Lord who are walking by faith according to the word of the Lord by the Spirit of the Lord.

To cap it all, the righteous are those that have received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness from God through Jesus.

Righteousness is all that God demands and approves, and is ultimately found in Christ.  It is the trademark of Christianity!  A vital force to a victorious and excellent Christian life.

The Bible says:  “Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds” Isaiah 3:10.

If you have believed and confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and righteousness has been imparted into your spirit as a gift from God, then you have become righteous – the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

When we accept this truth as the word of God teaches it, we will be free from sin consciousness forever.  We will step into the presence of the Father without doubt in our minds.

RULE YOUR WORLD

“For in Christ the fullness of God lives in human body, and you are complete through your union with Christ.  He is the Lord over every ruler and authority in the universe” Colossians 2:9-10.

The righteous life is not a life of mediocrity as some believe, but an excellent, radiant, glorious and blissful life, to be coveted by the unbelievers.  This is made possible through our complete oneness with Christ Jesus, the Lord over every power and authority.

Life victories don’t always go to the stronger or faster man, but sooner or later the man who wins is the man who believes in God and is empowered with righteousness to reign by Christ Jesus.

To reign in life is to reign in righteousness!  To reign in righteousness is to dominate, influence and rule your world for God with the investment of His personality in you by the enablement of the Spirit.

To dominate is to exercise control and authority over the devil, circumstances and situations – being in-charge always.

To influence is to affect somebody’s character and beliefs through (positive) examples – imparting your world with Christ.

To rule is to guide through leadership ability for (positive) change - Making positive impact in the world of evil.

Believers all over the world are to stand as righteous change agents in a confused world. Here are examples of people (righteous change agents)who dominated, influenced and ruled their world for God in their own days for our learning:

DANIEL IN THE LION’S DEN

Daniel the righteous, a man with the Spirit of the Holy God dominated all agents of darkness in his day.  He distinguished himself by his exceptional qualities.  Even in the Lion’s den, he exhibited dominion - the nature of the God he served.  He was always in-charge!

Here is the comment of the unbelieving king about the God of Daniel in the land of Babylon.  It’s unbelievable!

“Then King Darius wrote to all peoples, nations and men of every language throughout the land:  I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom, people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.  For he is the living God and He endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end.  He rescues and saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.  He has rescued Daniel from the power of the Lions” Daniel 6:25-27.

SHADRACH, MESHACH AND ABEDNEGO IN THE BLAZING FURNACE

The three Hebrew young men – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego influenced the nations of the world by standing their ground for the Almighty before Nebuchadnezzar – trusting the righteous God who works righteousness and justice for the oppressed, even to the point of death.

Here is the words of the pagan king concerning these righteous seeds from the city of Jerusalem.  It’s unimaginable!

“Then Nebuchadnezzar said, peace be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel to rescue his servants!  They trusted him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.  Therefore, I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubbles, for no other god can save in this way”  Daniel 3:28-29.

JOSEPH IN THE LAND OF SLAVERY

Joseph, the young dreamer ruled the entire nation of Egypt through leadership potential in him.  He, by the help of God’s Spirit formulated a fourteen years economic plan to save the people of Egypt and beyond from a severe famine that hit the land after a surplus harvest of seven years.

Here is the word of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, then a classical word-power, about the young man Joseph; the great grandson of Abraham the friend of God.  It’s mind-blowing!

“So Pharaoh asked them, can we find any one like this man, one in whom is the Spirit of God?  Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders.  Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.  So Pharaoh said to Joseph, I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt” Genesis 41:38-41.  This is absolute authority!

How much do I need to say?  The people of the Old Testament did wonderful exploits because they believed in  God.by faith they subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lion, quenched the violence of fire and escaped the edge of the sword. Out of weakness, they were made strong, they became valiant in war and turned to flight the armies of foreigners (Heb 11: 32-35)

Now is your own time!  A time to dominate, influence and rule your world for God.  It is time to resolve to be different, fully committed to God and His cause.  And the master key to this life of uncommon faith- dominion, influence and rulership is uprightness. Daniel 1:8.

Let it dawn on you that you are a king ordained to reign by Christ ! therefore, refuse to take off your  royal garment of righteousness.  Refuse to cast down your  royal crown of righteousness.  Refuse to lay down your royal scepter of righteousness. Become constantly conscious of the fullness of God in you – the abundance of His grace, the gift of His righteousness and the indwelling of His spirit.

The Bible says:  “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light” I Peter 2:9

Refuse to settle for less when God has called and chosen you for an excellent life. You must always remember that you are a king ordained to reign.  Jesus has made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, and we shall reign on earth – manifesting and demonstrating kingship.

Begin to wield your authority over the devil and his works as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, using the weapon of righteousness  in the right hand for attack and in the left hand for defense i.e the word of truth and the power of God   Where the word of a king is, there is power and who can say unto him, what you are doing” Ecclesiastes 8:4.  A king’s word is supreme!

You are a tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, for the display of His glory and power!  You are a builder, a restorer and a renewal of ancient ruins and the devastated system of the world. stand firm for righteousness! whoever stand for righteousness will always enjoy the backing and the blessing of God

King David, a man after God’s heart, talking from his wealth of experience said, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.  They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed” Psalm 39:25-26.

Every believer is a partaker with God in righteousness through the gift of His righteousness in us.  For this reason, the whole wide world is eagerly waiting for the unveiling of the sons of God.  Therefore, its your time to manifest!

So, gather courage, strategize, pray and move into action with the mind of reigning with the gift of God’s righteousness in you to change your world.

Apostle Paul says:  “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men” Romans 14:17-18.

The kingdom of God is about righteousness.  Righteousness is the rightness of God in you that guarantees you a listening ear and, an answered prayer from God.

Apostle Peter says:  “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil”  I Peter 3:42.

We are partners in righteousness with God.  We have within us the very element that is necessary for reigning in life to influence the world.

Apostle John says:  “These things I have written unto you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, even unto you that believe on the name of the son of God”  I John 5:13.

With eternal life – the righteous life of God in us, we shall reign on earth.  We shall make our world a better place.  Even now!

THE NEW CREATION MAN MUST RECOGNIZE THAT HE IS A KING ORDAINED TO REIGN!   JESUS HAS MADE US KINGS AND PRIESTS UNTO GOD AND HIS FATHER.  AND WE SHALL REIGN!

CHAPTER THREE

FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit … Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them”

The revelation of the fruit of righteousness is a fresh unveiling by the Holy Spirit!.A greater truth for the end time change agent worldwide.  The understanding of this chapter will give you the platform to display your supremacy over your adversary-  to demonstrate your power and to manifest your glory.

From the above scripture, the master Himself is simply saying that there are good fruits and, there are bad fruits.  There are fruits of righteousness and, there are fruits of evil.  In the world over, fruits of evil abound.  But we hardly know what the fruits of righteousness are, even among believers.

To know what the fruits of righteousness are, we need to understand Romans chapter 8 verse 10:“And if Christ be in you the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness”

Romans 8:10 is a key verse to the subject matter of this chapter.  It says even though your body be dead because of sin, but your spirit is made alive (given life) because of righteousness.  This is remarkable!  Thus, what gave life to our dead human spirits was the gift of God’s righteousness imparted to it at new birth by the Spirit of God.  How glorious!

I took time to explain how I got born again in chapter one of this book under a sub-heading:  My Encounter with God – The preacher led us in confessing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.  By the abundance of God’s grace, righteousness was instantaneously restored to my spirit.  My dead human spirit was imparted with the life and nature of God by the Spirit of God.  Peace came into my heart.  I became a new creature in Christ – a member of the family of God.  This marked the beginning of my Christian walk in righteousness.  And I believe such is your experience, too.

Now that our recreated human spirits are to manifest fruits, they must be from the righteousness of God imparted to our spirits when we became born again – a new creation in Christ Jesus.

The Bible says:  “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation:  old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Brethren, stop evaluating yourself from a human point of view! The new creation believer is not ordinary.  There is the seed of God’s righteousness in him that produces the fruits of righteousness.

Righteousness is a nature:  the nature of God – the very life and character of God imparted into our human spirits at the new birth.  This is the nature that makes a new creation:  a brand new man in Christ.

The new creation man is a spirit being with the righteous nature, recreated in the image and likeness of God.  The Bible says, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit” John 3:6.

When we were recreated in Christ Jesus, we ceased being ordinary flesh that we used to be, we became ‘living spirits’.  Because the life that we received is the life of God – the righteous life.

The Bible says:  “But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”

John 1:12-13.

Now that we are born of God: recreated in His image and likeness, the fruits that are expected of us are fruits after the nature and character of God who is our Father – our source of life.

Only good tree bears good fruits!  God has made us good trees, bearing good fruits.  The Bible called us the tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord for the display of His glory.  This means our glory is inherent in our nature – the nature of god in our spirits.

The eternal life of God, which is His everlasting life has been given to us.  So, we are to live out this righteous life of God in us to our world as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  It is right in our Spirits. The bible says “when Christ who is your life is revealed to the whole world, you will share in his glory .Col 3:4

When the life of God in us is given an expression, the glory of God (His royal grandeur, beauty and splendor) as revealed in the word will be let loose in us for all to see and appreciate. It was said about Jesus “we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth” John 1: 14

The established fact is:  the righteousness of God is in your spirit if you are born again.

AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Be not deceived:  evil communication (bad company) corrupt good manners.  Awake to righteousness, and sin not: for some have not the knowledge of God:  I speak this to your shame”  I Corinthians 15:33-53

Like I said in the previous chapter, one major difference between the believers and the unbelievers is the gift of righteousness in the believers.  And that is what God wants us to understand and unveil to our world.  There is an urgent need for us to wake up to our spiritual senses as the righteousness of God and stop living like the unbelievers in the world.

It is time we wake up to who we really are, a time to  wake up to good character, good morals and good manners as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  Just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their characters.  And the sure way to righteous character is in Galatians chapter 5 verse 22:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such there is no law”

Believe me sincerely, if there is any scripture the new creature believers must understand so much and manifest to their world, it is the above scripture – Galatians 5:22.  I call it remedy to unrighteous living.  It was the prayer of Apostle Paul for all the saints in Christ Jesus, together with the Bishops and Deacons.  He wrote:

“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that you may approve things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and Praise of God” Philippians 1:9-11.

From the heartfelt prayer of Apostle Paul, we can see that Galatians 5:22 is one scripture believers cannot do without.  Surprisingly, it is one highly misinterpreted by majority today.  Some refer to it as the fruit of the Holy Spirit, waiting endlessly for the Holy Spirit to manifest it for them.  This has brought confusion to many believers.  It hinders them from having correct knowledge of the righteous life and from enjoying its benefits.

Now, for clarity purposes, the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 refers to the fruit of the recreated human spirit and not the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the power of God in our spirit.  Righteousness is the nature of God in our spirit.  The Spirit of God imparts the nature of God into man.

Since I discovered this secret by revelation, I knew it is my responsibility to consciously manifest these fruits of the recreated human spirit latent in me to my world, and that has changed my approach to life and humanity.

The Bible says our human spirit is made alive because of righteousness.  Romans 8:10.  Since righteousness is what gives life to our human spirits, we can then say that the components of the fruit of the recreated human spirit listed in Galatians 5:22 are  fruits of the righteousness of god imparted to our spirits at new birth by the Spirit.

The fruits of righteousness therefore are inherent virtues, latent in our recreated human spirits to be manifested by us in our day-to-day living through the enablement of the Holy Spirit.

The sovereign Lord said:  “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days says the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  No longer will a man teach his neighbour or a man his brother, saying, know the Lord, because they will all know me from the least of them to the greatest declared the Lord”  Jeremiah 31:33-34.

The fruit of righteousness simply put is the character of God in our recreated human spirits requiring expression – the Christ-like character:  loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled.  This is the righteous character that leads to holiness .The bible says “The Holy God will  show himself holy by His righteousness” Isaiah 5: 16. The fruit of righteousness will make us a distinction to the world.

Now, What Deuteronomy chapter 4 verses 5 to 9 was to the children of Israel in the Old Testament is what Galatians chapter 5 verse 22 is to us the New creature in the New Testament today.  It will reveal in us the manifold wisdom of God to the nations of the world, and to principalities and powers in the heavenly realms.

Elder Job in the Bible said:  “I will maintain my righteousness and never let go of it.  My conscience will not reproach me as long as I live”  Job 27:6.

Friend, awake to righteousness!  Righteousness has sure rewards.  He who does what is right is righteous, just as He (Jesus) is righteous.

LEARNING RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness, even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the Lord”  Isaiah 26:10.

Here, Prophet Isaiah, through the help of the Spirit is letting us know that righteousness can be learnt.  We need to learn about righteousness to gain its understanding and manifest its fruit.  In learning, King Solomon said, we shall understand righteousness, justice and equity; yea every good path.  Proverbs 2:9.

To learn is to gain knowledge of or skill in, by study, practice or being taught.  It is also to be told or informed.  David said:  “I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore, I hate every wrong path” Psalm 119:104.

For as many that have received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, it is our responsibility to seek more understanding about the new life we were given, so as to know how to exploit it to our advantage. Though we do not grow in righteousness, but we do grow in the consciousness of it – the understanding of who we are and what we have in Christ.

Friend, our spiritual re-birth was instantaneous but our spiritual growth and maturity is progressive.  It requires learning.   This is the reason the Bible says, “They that are not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness are infants – babe in Christ.   But there are those that are matured in the teaching about righteousness, who have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.  Hebrews 5:13-14.  It takes learning to become masters.

Before the acceptance of the gift of righteousness (before grace was shown to us), all men walked in unrighteousness and have learnt so much of wickedness.  This is why both the receiver of the gift of righteousness and the people of the world are against learning righteousness.  The life of wickedness has taken hold of all men and it has become difficult even for some believers to yield to the new life in Christ and to manifest its fruit.  This necessitates learning righteousness.

Solomon said:  “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will add to his learning” Proverbs 9:9

Understand this, even as a new creature in Christ Jesus; you may not automatically manifest the fruit of righteousness.  You need to consciously learn about righteousness to gain its understanding, and for it to become your unconscious way of life If you will do this, you will never ever be unfruitful in your Christian life

Apostle Peter says: “For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith (belief) goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to perseverance, godliness and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 1:5-8.

Spiritual knowledge leads to spiritual maturity.  In the process of learning, you may mess up, but don’t give up learning.  The Bible says:  “For though a righteous falls seven times, he rises up again”  Proverbs 24:16.

If you fall, get up!  Learn from your falling.  Acknowledge your wrong doing, ask for forgiveness and continue your walk in righteousness.  God is faithful and just to cleanse us from every wrong.  I John 1:9.

In your learning stage, people may mock you and say you are not born again especially if you falter.  But do not be moved by their condemnation; rather, keep pressing your way to maturity!  I am talking from experience.

Keep this as your watchword:  “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” Matthew 5:6.

A sincere desire for righteousness( righteous character) will cause you to grow marvelously to maturity in your Christian walk and service.

PRACTISING RIGHTEOUSNESS

Apostle Paul said” keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me- everything you have heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you” phil 4:9

Go for righteousness! Keep putting into practice all you learned from me. Practice makes perfect and perfect practice makes success.  Endurance is the key – the ability to continue doing something painful or difficult for a long period of time without complaining.  Apostle James says:  “Let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing” James 1:4.perseverance leads to maturity

So, make it your practice to consciously walk in your new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  That is:

ü  In unconditional love against hatred!

ü  In unlimited joy against sadness!

ü  In perfect peace against fear, worry and anxiety!

ü  In patience of heart against haste!

ü  In kindness against selfishness!

ü  In goodness against wickedness!

ü  In faithfulness against deception!

ü  In gentleness against arrogance!

ü  In self-control against self-will or indiscipline

The nine major fruit of righteousness mentioned above are spiritual principles- the non negotiable core values that govern life, applicable in all spheres of life for victorious living. They are inherent glorious virtues( godly character) that we have been called unto as new creature; a brand new man in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Paul admonishing us said:  “Over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” Colossians 3:14.

The spiritual life is a life of unending expressions of love – the God-kind of love.  Love is the first fruit of the recreated human spirit.  The order of things in the spiritual realm is:  follow the way of love first!  Then eagerly desire spiritual gifts.

If a Christian brother or sister have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, with faith that can move mountains, but have not love, he is nothing”  I Corinthians 13:2.

Love is the greatest commandment!  God commanded us to love Him with all our spirit, soul and body. And to love our neighbour as ourselves.  Love is the fulfillment of the entire law.  Galatians 5:14.  Genuine love comes from God by His Spirit.

Now, as expected of every believer, here are the spiritual characteristics of the God-kind of love we must exhibit; its called AGAPE!

ü  Love is patient!

ü  Love is kind!

ü  Love does not envy!

ü  Love does not boast!

ü  Love is not proud!

ü  Love is not rude!

ü  Love is not self-seeking!

ü  Love is not easily angered!

ü  Love keeps no record of wrong!

ü  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth!

ü  Love always protects!

ü  Love always trusts!

ü  Love always hopes!

ü  Love always perseveres!

ü  Love never fails!

God is love!  He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.

Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in him.  I John 4:16.

The spiritual life is a disciplined life!  A life of moral excellence that leads to knowing God more closely everyday for deeper and fresher revelation knowledge through love fellowship. Spiritual discipline(mental and emotional) leads to spiritual maturity The plan of God is that the body of Christ may be built up: until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become matured, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:13.  This is the ultimate target of God.  It must of necessity become our individual target.

Friend, seek more knowledge about righteousness!  Desire to be a learned righteous man who knows his staff of rulership.  The Bible says, “Through knowledge shall the righteous be delivered” Proverbs 11:9.

Seek not to be enslaved by ignorance:  Knowledge aids liberty of the spirit.  Knowledge is the strength of salvation!

WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

“Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly – mere infants in Christ.  I give you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.  Indeed, you are still not ready.  You are still worldly.  For since there is jealousy and quarrelling among you, are you not worldly?  Are you not acting like mere men? I Corinthians 3:1-3

To walk in the spirit is to walk in the fullness of the gift of righteousness that was imparted to you by God.  It is to walk in your recreated human spirit through the enablement of the Holy Spirit.  This is the prescribed order of living!

The Bible says:  “Since we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit” Galatians 5:25.  And if we walk in the spirit, we shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  Galatians 5:16.

Walking in the spirit is living from within, living from inside out, living through the spirit, living by the spirit and living from the spirit. The realm of the spirit means the domain or the dwelling of the Spirit.  Now the big question is:  Where is the realm of the Spirit?  It is our recreated human spirit!  The Spirit of God is resident in our spirit!  When we walk in our recreated human spirit, we are simply walking in the Spirit.  It is that simple!

Now, there are three kinds of men on earth according to Biblical classification:  natural men, carnal men and spiritual men.  Let’s carefully examine their differences, one after the one.

NATURAL MEN

Natural men are the unbelievers who are still being ruled by the devil.  Though Jesus came for all men in the world, this set of people refuse to accept His Lordship over their lives.  So they are without the life and the nature of God in them.  They are mere men!

The Bible says, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned”  I Corinthians 2:14.

A natural man cannot walk in the spirit, he is spiritually separated from God until he is recreated – born again.  A natural man is under the rulership of the devil and his agent.

CARNAL MEN

Carnal men are those that have been born-again but still have much of the world in them.  Their spirits are recreated, but their minds have not been renewed to walk in the newness of life and the nature that was imparted to their spirit.  Rather, they choose to live by their physical senses.  Such men need to be trained to have better understanding of who they really are and to walk in the consciousness of it – to take advantage of the gift of righteousness in them.

The Bible says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God”  Colossians 1:3.

A carnal man does not walk in the Spirit.  He needs the renewing of his mind to be transformed from carnality to spirituality.  A carnal man is ruled by his mind – fear for today and worry about tomorrow.  To be carnally minded is death!

SPIRITUAL MEN

Spiritual men are those that are born again and have gotten their mind renewed with the transforming word of God.  They are matured Christians; not necessarily of age but of the depth of the knowledge of who they are in Christ Jesus. They are men and women who have exercised their senses through constant use to differentiate between good and evil.

The Bible says, “The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment”  I Corinthians 2:15.

Spiritual men are those walking in the fullness of the gift of God’s righteousness in them to dominate all forces of darkness, and ruling as kings in the world through the enablement of the Holy Spirit.  They have come to know fully well that they are spirit beings with the righteous nature.

To walk in the spirit is to manifest the fruits of righteousness – the identities of the righteous:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness and self-control.  In all of these, there are no restriction and transgression.

The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith”  Hebrews 10:38.  Living by faith without doubt, is living by the Spirit: Walking in the consciousness of your righteousness!  As you walk this way, you are simply living by faith; not according to the dictate of the flesh, but of the Spirit to dispel all forces of life that wants to stop you from reigning as the king you were made by God.  Being spiritually minded leads to life and peace.

THE NEW CREATION MAN IS NOT ORDINARY! HE IS A SPIRIT BEING WITH THE RIGHTEOUS NATURE. THERE IS THE SEED OF GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS IN HIM THAT PRODUCES THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

CHAPTER FOUR

WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“And the works of righteousness shall be peace”  Isaiah 32:19.

Christianity is a call to a life of peace and rest in God – an wholesome relationship with the Almighty.

Jesus Christ our righteousness, declared, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”  Matthew 11:28.  This is what righteousness gives:  peace  and rest from the burdens of life!

When we come to God through His son Jesus Christ; the Saviour of the world, we come into His rest and ceases from our struggles just as God did from His work of creation.

“For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his”  Hebrews 4:10.  This is perfect  peace in reality!

So many policies has been formulated by various organizations, and adopted in several nations of the world to experience peace.  But, instead of peace, violence is increasing on daily basis.

I discovered by revelation that individual personal peace will lead to worldwide peace. But both personal and world-wide peace outside Jesus (the Prince of Peace) is a mirage!  Enduring peace and perfect rest can be found in Christ – the fountain of peace.  Not in any; I mean any policies or religions of the world – name them!

Jesus Christ, the embodiment of peace, before his departure from the earth left for us a precious gift of peace. He said” I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” John 14:27

True peace is a peace of mind and heart. Enduring peace is an essential to the human heart. In essence therefore, no Christ, no true peace!

The Bible says:  “Righteousness and peace kiss each other”  Psalm 85:10.  How awesome! This means righteousness brings about the reign of peace. The Hebrew word translated peace is “Shalom” – a state of completeness, wholeness, total well-being, health and prosperity that produces rest, through Christ Jesus.

RECONCILED FOR RECONCILATION

Now, as benefactors of the kingdom of peace, we have the sole responsibility to tell about our peace and rest in Christ.  We do this to establish the influence of His kingdom in the hearts of the people in the nations of the world who are seeking peace and rest where it could not be found.

In this chapter, therefore, I shall be talking about PEACE!  The work of righteousness as applied to the ministry of reconciliation:  bringing men into a peaceful relationship with their maker.

This was the ministry of Jesus on earth – the ministry of reconciliation.  He came and preached peace to the whole world that he might reconcile us unto God, the Father.  It was a peace mission for all!

The Bible says:  “For He (Jesus) is our peace who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; to make Himself of two one new man, so making peace; And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross and preached peace to you which were afar of, and to them that were near.  For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father” Ephesians 2:14-18.

Jesus is our peace, making peace.  He came and preached peace.

And has committed to our trust the job of peace making!  Apostle James says, “Peace makes who sew in peace raise a harvest of righteousness” James 3:18.This means that the planting of the seed of peace will bring about the harvest of righteousness.

I came to know through the epistles to the Corinthians church that we were saved to save others through Jesus the Lord and Saviour of our souls.  It reads:  “And all things are of God, and has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19.

The reason we were left in this world after our reconciliation into the kingdom of righteousness and peace is to help other sols into righteousness.  This is our diplomatic obligation as  ambassadors of Christ on earth -  the ambassadors of peace!

Jesus said:  “Blessed are the peace makers (soul winners):  for they shall be called the children of God”  Matthew 5:9.

Apostle Paul quoting Prophet Isaiah said, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things”  Romans 10:15.

Daniel said, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” Daniel 12:3.

When Jesus walked the face of the earth, He was such a threat to the kingdom of darkness and its works – Undoing the acts of wickedness.  He demonstrated such great love and compassion for the lost.  Now He has called us into the same life of undying love and compassion for the lost depending on us to do what He did while He walked the face of the earth, and even more!

So, what are you going to do with this compassionate life of Christ in you?  Are you going to hide righteousness(eternal life) in your heart like many are doing or you are going to manifest its influence to your world?  You can choose to influence your world positively with the message of God’s goodness.

David said:  “I have preached righteousness in the great congregation:  lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.  I have not hid righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation:  I have not concealed thy loving kindness and thy truth from the great congregation” Psalm 40:9-10.

This should be the testimony of the righteous: telling of the salvation, faithfulness, loving kindness and the truth of God’s goodness in our lives to our world everyday, everywhere.

While some believers are busy arguing about wearing trousers or not, covering head or not, wearing jewelry or not, the devil is busy destroying and running people into hell in their thousands daily.  What are we to do?

HERALDING THE GOSPEL OF PEACE

“And the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” Matthew 24:4.

The work of righteousness are not the same as self-righteousness that some are boasting of, but the reconciliation of men from the kingdom of the devil into the kingdom of God – proclaiming the love of God to the lost, oppressed and the afflicted.

The righteous all over the world are the agents of peace in their respective areas of influence, recreated by Christ Jesus for good works:  to manifest the glory of God and to demonstrate His power – dominating and ruling over every works of evil with the word and the power of God, through the enablement of the Spirit.

The Bible says:  “The Lord works righteousness and justice for the oppressed” Psalm 103:6.

The righteousness of God revealed through the Gospel of Christ (good news that brings great joy) will counter the devil and wickedness in the world.  For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men.  The Gospel of Christ is the power of God to save the lost and the afflicted.

Apostle Paul said: “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes: to the Jews first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith” Romans 1:16-17.

Each time the Gospel of Christ is preached, the righteousness of God, that is ,the goodness of God – His awesome power and love is released into operation to save, to heal and to deliver from the power of the devil and his agents causing destruction and damage in the lives of men all over the world, and testimonies follows!

Now, this is the gospel:  “For God so love the world that He gave His one and only son, (who died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures) that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life – the God-kind of life”  John 3:16; I Corinthians 15:3-4.

As agents of peace to the world, we have the solution to the wickedness and the evil being perpetrated in the world.  Eternal life is the solution, the solution to evil and wickedness in the hearts of men.  Eternal life is the answer!  When we rise up with the gospel, evil and wickedness will subside in the world.

We are on a mission on earth- a mission with the burning passion for the dying world  We are to go into all the world and preach the gospel to the unsaved, offering the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus our saviour . We are to break the fangs of the wicked and snatch victims from his teeth as a matter of urgency.

Brother Job in the Bible, the greatest man among the people of his time said:  “I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist him. The man who was dying blessed me; I made the widows’ heart sing.  I put on righteousness as my clothing; justice was my robe and turban.  I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame.  I was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the strangers.  I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth. Job 29:11-17.

The work of righteousness are the works of love and faith – interceding for the oppressed, preaching the gospel to the unsaved, healing the sick, saving the lost and discipling them for the master’s use.  It is helping the helpless and giving to the needy – manifesting the love of Christ, extending the influence of His grace  Matthew 24:35-40.  Brethren; wake up!

We can’t afford to disappoint our Lord who has commissioned us to go into the camp of the devil and snatch men from his kingdom of darkness and bring them into the kingdom of light- eternal life made available for them by Christ Jesus. The Bible says: “He who wins souls is wise”  Proverbs 11:30. Be wise!

The works of righteousness are uppermost in the hearts of the Father and the Son.  It must of necessity be uppermost in your heart, too!

SALT AND LIGHT BELIEVERS

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt losses its savour, wherewith shall it be salted?  It is henceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.  Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candle stick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven” Matthew 5:13-16.

Jesus at the mountain side in the midst of great multitude of people said emphatically to His disciples that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Now, if we don’t understand the function of salt and light, we may not be able to comprehend the depth of the responsibility Jesus entrusted to the disciples from His speech on the mountain.

One major function of salt is preservation!  Salt is ultimately used for preserving food or things from decaying or rottenness.  The Bible says the throne of David was preserved by covenant of salt – 2 Chronicles 13:5.

Salt preserves!  It prevents decadence. So, Jesus is making us understand that we are to prevent decadence in the world, by establishing the influence of His kingdom on the face of the earth through leadership by righteous example.

Also, the function of light is to illuminate!  To dispel darkness, expose evil intentions, and to make known the works of righteousness. The fruit of light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth  The Bible says:  “for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light: for the fruit of light consists in what is good, right and true” Eph 5: 8-9

As salt and light believers, we are like a city that is set on a hill that cannot be hidden. This is rather not a compliment but a challenge to a greater responsibility from the Lord to our world.  We must be careful how we live,  making the most of every opportunity to do good and understanding what the Lord wants us to do per time.  Just like Nehemiah, a man with a righteous heart who exhibited leadership by righteous example in Jerusalem, the City of the great King.

News about the devastated state of Jerusalem came to Nehemiah, how its wall and the gates were broken down and burned with fire.  Nehemiah became burdened for the people and the city of God.  He fasted and prayed to God for favour, and he championed the re-building of the wall and the gates of Jerusalem with the help and support of men, restoring the glory of Jerusalem.

Nehemiah recounts:  “And they said to me, the remnants that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gate therefore is burned with fire.  And it came to pass when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept and mourned certain days and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven… so I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.  And I rose in the night, I and some few men with me; … Then said I unto them, ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more reproach.  Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me, as also the kings words that he had spoken unto me.  And they said, let us rise up and build.  So they strengthened their hands for the good work”  Nehemiah 1:1-4; 2:11-18.

This account is a good example of who we are today: we are builders, restorers and renewals of ancient ruins and devastated system of the world.  As salt and light believers, we cannot just fold our hands and watch the world degenerate, or follow the ways of the world.  We are to show the world how to live through leadership by righteous examples.

We are to lead men in the right way to go, by influencing them positively for the Lord’s use.  We are to bring a change to the world, establishing the influence of the kingdom of God everywhere we go – at home, at work, in schools, in the market place, in private organizations, in government establishments, in the position of authority and in the position of service.

We are to be living examples of righteousness:  fully equipped with justice, truth and honesty which leads to integrity.

The Spirit of the Lord expressly said to my spirit that:  the best form of preaching is living by examples.  Apostle Paul told young Timothy, (you and me) to be an example of the believer in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity – I Timothy 4:12.

The world is full of wickedness and evil.  Only the righteous can combat the darkness in the world with light.  This is why Jesus ,in His speech at the mountain side emphasized “let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works (the works of righteousness) and glorify your Father which is in heaven”.  So, brethren, shine your light to your world, they are waiting for it.

ACTS OF THE RIGHTEOUS

“Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father.  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”  John 14:12-13.

The testimony of Jesus being alive may never be real to the unbelievers without the acts of the righteous.  The acts of faith!    If  there were the Acts of the Apostles, there must also be the Acts of the Righteous.

The Acts of the Apostles were the proofs of Jesus being alive and doing great wonders through, His name as declared by the Apostles in their generation – demonstrating the Spirit and His Power.

Also, the Acts of the Righteous shall be the proofs of Jesus being alive and going great wonders through His name as declared by the righteous in our generation- demonstrating the Spirit and His power.

The Bible says: “Jesus of Nazareth was a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you as ye yourselves know”  Acts 2:22.

Jesus did awesome works when He walked the face of the earth!  Now, He has commissioned us to do the same works He did, and even greater works than He did while on earth.

The question to ask is:  What are the works Jesus did, that he is sending us to do today even in greater measure?

In the book of Matthew chapter 11 verse 6, Jesus tendered the credentials of His ministry when John the Baptist sent men to ask Him if He was the expected Messiah.

The Bible records that Jesus said to them, “Go and show John again these things which ye do hear and see:  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers  are cleansed, and the deaf fear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them” Matthew 11:5.

Now, the same works of righteousness Jesus went about doing, He has commissioned us to do in the world today.  Here is the statement of the great commission to us the followers of Christ:

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be dammed.  And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devil; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover” Mark 16:15-18.

The great commission is the sum-total of the work of righteousness:  Preaching the gospel, casting out demons in the name of Jesus and laying hands on the sick for recovery – demonstrating the power of the Spirit.  All we need to function in this capacity are:  the living word of God, the wonderful name of Jesus and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

Jesus said to His disciples after commissioning them into the Ministry of Reconciliation to wait for the enduement with Power from heaven:

“Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you:  but tarry you in the city of Jerusalem, until you are endued with POWER from on high” Luke 24:49.

Also, in Act 1:8, Jesus said, “You shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and  Samaria, and to the end of the earth”.

On the day of Pentecost,in the city of Jerusalem, the promised Holy Spirit – the Power of the most High came and has remained in the earth till date.Apostle Peter said”for the promise (Holy Spirit) is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” Acts 2 :39

The holy Spirit  came to indwell natural men to become ‘super-ordinary’.  He came to empower ordinary men to stand in the place of Jesus in the world, in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power; undoing the works of the devil.

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head (Father, Son and Spirit) is, by His dynamic ministry our helper: Comforter, Counselor, Strengthener, Advocate, Intercessor and Standby.  He is everything to us!

The Bible mentioned about His seven diverse independent manifestations, which indicate His fullness in us and with us to help us walk in the supernatural consistently.  These are listed in Isaiah 11:2 as:-

Ø  The Spirit of the Lord (The Anointing)

Ø  The Spirit of Wisdom

Ø  The Spirit of Understanding

Ø  The Spirit of Counsel

Ø  The Spirit of Might (Inner Strength)

Ø  The Spirit of Knowledge

Ø  The Spirit of the fear of the Lord (Reverence)

There is nothing we can do without the Holy Spirit.  From Him comes the anointing, wisdom, understanding. Also, counsel, might, knowledge and the fear of the Lord.  All these are His dynamic supernatural capabilities in our spirit man for activation.

The Holy Spirit is the doer of God’s work!  The works of righteousness are the manifestation of His awesome gifts in us – the special abilities the Spirit gives.  The Holy Spirit is the source of all spiritual gifts.

The Bible says:  “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit.  For to one is given by the spirit  THE WORD OF WISDOM; to another THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE by the same Spirit; to another FAITH by the same Spirit; to another THE GIFTS OF HEALING by the  same Spirit; to another THE WORKING OF MIRACLES; to another PROPHECY; to another DISCERNING OF SPIRITS; to another VARIOUS KINDS OF TONGUES; to another INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES:  But in  all these works that one and same Spirit dividing to every man individually as he will”  I Corinthians 12:7-11.

The supernatural gifts of the Spirit are given for the demonstration of the Spirit and of Power!  So that men would not trust in human wisdom but in the Power of God.

ABOUT THE WONDERFUL NAME OF JESUS

After the infilling of the Holy spirit at Pentecost, the apostles were changed to supermen, and they began to manifest and demonstrate the power of the Spirit to the amazement of men.

At the Beautiful gate, in the city of Jerusalem, the power of God, was demonstrated through faith in the wonderful name of Jesus.Apostle Peter dared to use the power of the Holy Ghost through faith in the only name given by which men could be saved.  The name that is above every other name – Jesus!

The Bible says: “At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth” Philippians 2:10.

Saint Peter boldly said to a man lame from his mother’s womb, “such as I have give I thee:  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” Acts 3:6.  Immediately, his feet and ankle bone received strength.  Faith in the name of Jesus made him strong.

Many people in their generation have tried using the name of  Jesus with no desired result.  Not knowing that something qualifies them to use the name with result as stated in the word.

Here is the secret of having desired result, using the name of Jesus:  Faith!.  Faith makes living and active by righteousness – consciousness:  the dominant consciousness that you are in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Christ is in you (John 4:4).

Righteousness – consciousness builds active faith that is dynamic in its working.  Active faith in the wonderful name of Jesus, and in the living Word of God, with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is a dynamo!  A supernatural force.  It will shake the world once again like in the days of the early Apostles.

As the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we have ‘something’ to offer the world that is beyond what money can buy-The backing of deity!  This is our accreditation, approval and endorsement by God – the backing of deity!  It will work wonders like never before in this end-time.

Like the Apostles of old, in carrying out our diplomatic obligation, our expectation should be to see miracles, wonders and signs done through us by God to our world.  This will make Jesus real and alive to the people of the world.

Miracles are not magic, but the manifestation of the Power of the most High – the demonstration of the righteousness of God.

Miracles, wonders and signs are necessary tools for effective work of reconciliation that has been committed into our hands by our master, Jesus Christ.

Don’t forget that we are discussing your Staff of Rulership.  That you have been made a king and priest to rule on earth by Christ Jesus.

But, Solomon said:  “It is abomination for kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness” Proverbs 16:12.

I want you to know that every disobedience is transgression and evil in the sight of God!  You can only fight the disobedience of the devil when your own obedience is fulfilled.  2 Corinthians 10:6.

When you refuse to do the commands of God as His agent of change to your world, it means you are aiding wickedness and evil in the world.  Remember, you are not an agent of evil, but an agent of righteousness, sent and empowered to effect changes in the world of evil.

To the faithful doers of the works of righteousness, according to Apostle Paul, a crown of righteousness awaits them from the Lord, the righteous judge 2 Timothy 4:7-8.You will not miss your crown in Jesus Name.

THIS SHOULD BE THE TESTIMONY OF THE RIGHTEOUS:  TELLING OF THE SALVATION, FAITHFULNESS, LOVING KINDNESS AND THE TRUTH OF GOD’S GOODNESS IN THEIR LIVES TO THEIR WORLD.  THE RIGHTEOUS IS A WITNESS!

CHAPTER FIVE

EFFECTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The effects of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.  My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.  Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely” Isaiah 32:17-19.

There is alarming news of violence in the world today more than ever before.  There are wars all over the place.  Nations rising against nations and kingdom against kingdom.  Wickedness is increasing everyday among men for power and possession.

There are kidnapping, stealing and killing all over the world.  Cultism in all institutions of learning and prostitution in all major streets and hotels.  These are the results of corruption in the system of the world caused by evil desires.

As righteousness and peace works together according to Psalm 85:10 corruption and violence are team mate says Genesis 6:11.  Corruption breeds violence!

There exists a correlation between the ability of the nations of the world to make meaningful progress and the victories they can record in the war against corruption.  The world is under the bondage of corruption!

This is why Jesus said we are in the world, but not of the world.  The system of the world is a way of life where possessions and physical pleasures are counted important, rather than spiritual values.

The Bible says concerning the world, “Justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance, truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter”  Isaiah 59:14.

But, in spite of the corruption/wickedness (injustice, unrighteousness, falsehood and dishonesty)in the world, there shall be quietness and confidence for the righteous!  For this is, the effect of the righteousness of God in them.

Prophet Isaiah, through the Spirit said, the people of God will dwell in peaceful habitation, in secure dwelling.  And in quiet resting places, even in the face of raging storms in the world.  What an assurance!

In the book of Genesis, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were noted for wickedness and evil.  The Bible says:  “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous”  Genesis 18:20.

So, the Lord decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their wickedness and evil.  But God chose to inform Abraham His friend of His plan.  And Abraham made profound statements worthy to be examined.  He said:

“Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?  What if there are fifty righteous people in the city?  Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?  Far be it from you to do such a thing – to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike.  Far be it with you!  Will not the judge of all the earth do right”  Genesis 18:23-25.

The righteous are the people of God, having the distinctive life of God in them!  They are unique people, imparted with the righteousness of God that distinguishes them from the rest of the world.  They are special to God and He is jealous of them

In no situation will God treat the righteous and the wicked alike – to kill the righteous with the wicked?  The judge of the universe will never do evil.

The Bible says: “So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived” Genesis 19:29.

The righteousness of the righteous is their license to safety, protection and preservation from destructions and calamities in the world!

The Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah but Lot and his family were led safely out of the city by the angels of the Lord for the Lord was merciful to them.  But Lot’s wife looked back!

Now, Abraham’s bold negotiation with God over the people of Sodom and Gomorrah was based on his right standing with God, making intercession for the nations as a man with an imputed righteousness.

Abraham said, “Now that I have been sol bold as to speak to the Lord though I am nothing but dust and ashes” Genesis 18:27.

Abraham had an imputed righteousness, but we have an imparted righteousness! Imputed righteousness couldn’t give eternal life or the new birth, it only gave a promise of it. But imputed righteousness gives eternal life-  the new birth experience through Christ Jesus our righteousness. This guarantees our right standing before God, the justifier of the ungodly – the righteous judge of the universe!

 RIGHTEOUSNESS EMBOLDENS

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised”  Hebrews 10:19-23.

Adam the first man lost the freedom to stand before the presence of God.  He lost the righteous nature of God in him and became the devil incarnate because he ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil through the deceit of the devil, and he became spiritually dead – separated from God.

Adam said, “I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself”  Genesis 3:10.

When Adam ate of the forbidden fruit he was told not to eat from, boldness left him and fear set in.  He lost the freedom and the confidence to stand before God!  And through Adam’s sin of disobedience , all men lost boldness and confidence to stand before God because of sin and its consciousness.

But now, by the wonderful work of grace, the issue of sin has been dealt with once and for all by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.  We have been saved from sin and its consequences.  We have been reconciled to God through the blood of Jesus Christ which consecrated us.Our guilty conscience has been sprinkled with Christ blood to make us clean, and our body has been washed with pure water.  Righteousness has been restored to us, through this restored righteousness, intimate relationship and fellowship with God has been made possible.  We have gained access and boldness to enter the most holy place – the presence of God.What a freedom!

The Bible says:  “In Him (Jesus) and through faith in Him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence”  Ephesians 3:12.

Unlike Adam who had to hide himself from God because he was naked, we have been granted access to come before God without a sense of guilt, condemnation and inferiority complex through Christ, our Lord.  We have been covered with the garment of righteousness. We have gained the assurance of acceptance from God that we are gladly welcome in His presence without fear of being banished by Him.

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift of righteousness!

RIGHTEOUSNESS PROMOTES

“Righteousness exalts a nation:  but sin is a reproach to any people” Proverbs 14:3.

Righteousness exalts!  It makes higher in rank, greater in power and dignity.

We, the righteous were nobody, living under the rulership of the devil and his demons, dead in our transgressions and sins.  We were without God in the world; strangers from the covenants of promise and without any hope whatsoever.

But because of His undying love for the sinners, God who is kind and rich in mercy, made us alive with His son Jesus Christ even when we were dead in transgression.  We were saved by His saving grace!

When we received Christ into our lives, we received the righteousness of God that makes higher in rank, greater in power and dignity!  We became masters to Satan and his cohort of hell.  Right now, we have been elevated beyond reproach of any kind.

David said in his writings:  “For surely O Lord, you bless (empower, ennoble) the righteous, you surround them with your favour as with a shield”  Psalm 5:12.

Through the blessing of righteousness, we left being ordinary, for a new type of life – a life of peace, love and joy.  A life of victory, glory and power.  We became heirs to the covenant of promise given to Abraham our father, the friend of God.  We became joint-heirs with Christ Jesus.

This scripture explains it better:  “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 2:6.

Now, we have been promoted to become fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.  We have become heirs together with the people of God, members together of His body and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.  What an honour and privilege we have in Christ.

The Bible reveals about Job that he was a blameless and upright man who feared God and shunned evil.  Job’s experience with the devil, Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite said to him:  “He (God) does not take His eyes off the righteous; he enthrones them with kings and exalts them for ever”  Job 36:7.

God delighted so much in the righteous.  He watches over them day and night to see to their well-being because of His abundant investment of grace and righteousness in them.

Abundance of grace here means the expression of God’s kindness to a helpless people, to give them a place of privilege, to sustain and keep them for ever Ephesians 2:6-9.

The righteous are the apples of God’s eyes.  They are His prized possession in the world and God will give anything in exchange for their lives.

God has planned all condition, time and season to be favourable to, and enjoyable for the righteous, for their comfort and flourishing.  When we believe in God’s gift of righteousness, we will enjoy the multiplication of God’s grace?  God will open up His bowel of mercy and favour on us in all ways.

David said:  “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a Cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there in no wickedness in him”  Psalm 92:12-15.

The blessings and the lifting of the righteous are not just for a moment, they are forever, from one level of glory to another.  Righteousness truly exalts.

Righteousness is a promoter and a sustainer!  It promoted Joseph in the land of Egypt, Daniel and his friends in the land of Babylon.  It sustained Lot in the midst of unrighteousness in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.  It will promote and sustain you in the midst of wickedness in the world.

The Bible says:  “but the path of righteous is as a shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day”  Proverbs 4:18.

This is promotion per excellence!  Enthroned, established and exalted forever.

RIGHTEOUSNESS PROTECTS

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness” Ephesians 6:4.

Righteousness is an armour!  Apostle Paul told us to put on the full armour of God, with righteousness as a breastplate so that we can take our stand against the scheme of the devil.

A natural breastplate is a physical defensive covering, usually metal (for the body) worn in fighting.  Also, righteousness as a breastplate is a spiritual defensive covering worn against attack of the devil for triumphal victory.

The Bible says about God:  “His own righteousness sustained Him.  He put on righteousness as His breastplate”  Isaiah 59:16-17.

As long as we are in the world, we will be engaged in spiritual warfare!  Not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”  Ephesians 6:12.

The knowledge and the consciousness of our righteousness in God will make us indomitable to the forces of darkness.  No matter how often they aim at us, they will always fail because we have taken the breastplate of righteousness and the shield of faith that will always negate their wiles – the fiery darts of the wicked.

Prophet Isaiah said:  “In righteousness shall thou be established: thou shall be far from terror; for it shall not come near thee: behold they shall gather together but not by me:  whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for your sake – No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment thou shall condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, said the Lord”  Isaiah 54:14-17.

To the righteous who has learnt to put on righteousness as breastplate, any force that is waging war against him is actually fighting against the Lord Himself because his righteousness is of the Lord.  And God will defend His righteous ones against oppression!

In the book of Acts, the Pharisees had a plan to kill the apostles and silence them.  But one of the Pharisees named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law stood up among them and said, “In this case, I advice you: leave these men alone!  Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourself fighting against God”  Acts 5:33-39.

A fight against the righteous that are manifesting the fruits of righteousness and doing the works of righteousness is a fight the Lord.  The Lord will fight them with His right hand of righteousness.

While Saul was persecuting the church before his conversion on the road to Damascus, he never knew he was fighting against the Lord.  He said in his testimony to the gentiles:

“For you have heard of my previous way of life in Jerusalem, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.  I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jew of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my father” Galatians 1:13-14.

Saul the persecutor who later became Paul the preacher thought he was fighting the Apostles.  But it became known to him when the Lord called out from heaven, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?  And Saul asked who are you Lord?  And the Lord answered ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting” Acts 9:1-5.

By the hand of the Lord, Brother Saul the persecutor bowed to God and became an hard-headed preacher of righteousness:  the key of the revelation given to him by the Lord.  The Bible says:  “As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid” Acts 24:25.

One sentence that accurately describes the righteous is that ‘They are more than conquerors.’ The righteousness of the righteous is their defense!  The righteousness of the righteous will sustain and keep them from all oppressions!

We have already been made by God, nothing whatsoever can unmake us!  Our ways of lives can only be from grace to grace, from faith to faith and from glory to glory.

RIGHTEOUSNESS ENRICHES

“I always thank god for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus.  For in Him you have been enriched in every way…”  I Corinthians 1:4-5.

Brothers and sisters, let id dawn on you that you are the righteousness of God, recreated and enriched in every way through Christ Jesus to excel.  Walking in the consciousness of this knowledge will cause you to live above poverty, lack and want the rest of your life.

At the crowning work of creation, man was created and given a dominion mandate – unreserved authority to rule and reign on earth.  But through the deceit of the devil, man fell from riches to deprivation.  The rich deposit of God in man was corrupted.  Man became empty and ordinary, left to struggle with his limited human strength for survival.

The wisdom of God in man was turned to the wisdom of man which is foolishness before God.  Success, greatness and excellent life outside God become the pursuit of man, and this led to killing for rituals, stealing and embezzlement of public funds to satisfy personal needs.  The heart of man that was created by God in His image and likeness has become desperately wicked and evil.  What a disaster!

In expression of God’s kindness to humanity, God gave His only begotten son to die for our sin and to return us to the life at the Garden of Eden.  Now, whosoever believes in the son of God is divinely programmed to prosper, succeed and excel in life through the gift of God’s righteousness in him.

The Bible says of the Lord Jesus, “….. Though He was (so very) rich, yet for your sakes He became (so very) poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied)” 2 Corinthians 8:9 AMP.

If you are born again and righteousness has been imparted to your spirit, you have been enriched in every way by God through Jesus – our righteousness!

To be enriched is to be empowered!  To be enabled spiritually in all wisdom, knowledge and understanding.  It is to be fully equipped with the treasures of heaven to excel.

A believer is hundred percent bigger on the inside than the situation and circumstances around him.  He has been adequately furnished with all that he needed to live as a successful life in this world.

Apostle Paul writing to the Ephesians Christians, said, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” Ephesians 1:3.

If you are a believer, understand that you lack nothing to succeed in life!  You have been abundantly supplied with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.  The righteousness of God in you qualifies you to be successful, great and prosperous as you choose to be.  A believer is born rich!

You may be contemplating in your mind that why the enrichment in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing and not with every physical blessing in the earthly realm?

God is a Spirit!  The Bible called Him the Father of our spirits.  It reads:  “Moreover, we have all had human father who disciplined us and we respected them for it.  How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live” Hebrews 12:9.

From the above scripture, we can understand that we have fathers of our flesh and the Father of our spirits.  The fathers of our flesh are our biological fathers while the Father of our spirits is God Almighty!

If we can understand how our biological fathers will do all things to ensure our success, then we can begin to comprehend how the loving Father of our Spirits has enriched us with every thing to be successful in life.  God’s package of blessings for us is rich!

Now, our responsibility as believers is to bring to the earthly realm, the blessings in the spiritual realms, for our profiting and enjoyment through creative ideas, visions and dreams.  This is made possible by the help of the Holy Spirit – the Spirit that reveals hidden secrets – I Corinthians 2:9-10.

The grace of God qualified us for the righteousness of God.  The righteousness of God made us fit for the Spirit of God.  The Spirit of God enables us to have access to the revelations of God which cannot be otherwise known.  And the deep secrets of God we know and practice will make us a success and a distinction to the world.

Here is a scriptural practice that guarantees undeniable access to the deep secrets of God:

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of the sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever he does shall prosper” Psalm 1:1-2.

The hidden truth about Elder Job’s massive wealth was:  the secret of God upon his tent – Job 29:4.

Brothers and sisters, your success in life is rooted in revelations that source from meditation!  Buy this truth and never let go of it:  Make the word your delight and your meditation then you shall prosper in all ways.

RIGHTEOUSNESS ENRAPTURES

“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of god, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever” I Thessalonians 4:16-17.

Righteousness is a key role player in the lives of believers from the beginning of our Christian race to the end of it.  Eternal life – the righteous life of God in us is everlasting!  It does not end with the present physical world but continue into the age of the kingdom of God, which is to come.

I am always full of joy, when I remember that we are not going to end our Christian race here on earth, I feel excited and expectant to meet with the Lord.  To meet with my saviour and say, ‘thank you’

Jesus left the earth to come back again.  He is coming!  Coming in a grand style from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God.  To do what?  To take home the righteous to a glorious place made ready for them as their dwelling for ever.

The scripture says, we shall be caught up together in the cloud to meet the Lord in the air.  This to me shall be an awesome experience.  But you know what?  Not all believers will be ready for this glorious home coming with the Lord.

The Lord Jesus, while on earth warned His disciples of certain signs they would see and events that would take place to signify His second coming and the end of the age.  These signs are recorded in the Bible for us to read, understand and be cautioned:

“As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately.  “Tell us, they said, when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the Age?  Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you.  For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am Christ’ and will deceive many … Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold; but he who stand firm to the end will be saved”  Matthew 24:3-14.

The disciples asked for the sign of the Lord’s second coming and of the end of the world – an inquisitive questions with an eye opening answer!

OUTSTANDING SIGNS OF THE END TIME

From the answers of Jesus to His disciples, about the signs of the end time, a statement stands out, as a major sign to every believer expecting the return of the master. It reads:

“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold” Matthew 24:12.

In the last days, according to the word of the master, wickedness will be on the increase. Apostle Paul called this ‘Terrible Times’ or Perilous Times’.  This will be the doing of so many.

“But marks this:  There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God”   2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Checking is the characters of the end time signs and events, they are directly opposite the characters of the love of God that was shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, described in chapter three of this book.

Love is the first fruit of the recreated human spirit.  If your love life can be affected negatively by the increase of wickedness around you, your godly character will be corrupted.  In the process, your love for God and His kingdom will grow cold, which is a strange influence on who you are as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Brothers and sisters, reject every negative influence of wickedness around you!  The target of the devil is your love for God and His kingdom.  So, watch out!

WARNING FOR THE RIGHTEOUS

Here is statement of warning from Jesus; the good Shepherd, to the righteous who are willing and waiting to be with the Lord in His kingdom which is to come, for ever.  It reads:

“But he who stand firm to the end will be saved” Matthew 24:13

What a strong warning from a caring heart!  Permit me to reframe the scripture this way:  “He that abide still and continue in righteousness and truth to the end will be saved”

Righteousness is our ticket for rapture:  Being ready always!  Ready to be caught up in the cloud to meet the Lord in the air and to reign with Him in His kingdom.

Apostle Paul, admonishing us on this same issue of readiness said:  “Let us be self controlled putting on faith and love as breastplate and the hope of salvation as helmet” I Thessalonians 5:8.

There are three major key words that are standing out in the scripture above:  Faith and Love as a breastplate, hope of salvation as helmet.  These are what we need, to keep us awake and ready for the coming of the Lord, the saviour of our souls.

The signs of the end times are more critically prevalent now than ever before.  Now is the time to concentrate ourselves from the wickedness in the world.  To preserve ourselves, unto righteousness – to be devoted completely to the work of faith, the labour of love and the patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

With our faith in God and His word, our love for Him and His kingdom, and our hope in Jesus Christ and His glorious appearing, we shall be saved.

For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ – I Thessalonians 5:9.

So, see you in the age of the kingdom of God, which is to come!

            Peace be with you.  Amen!

ONE SENTENCE THAT BEST DESCRIBES THE RIGHTEOUS IS THAT:  ‘HE IS MORE THAN A CONQUEROR’ THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RIGHTEOUS IS THEIR DEFENCE.  THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SUSTAIN AND KEEP THEM FROM ALL OPPRESSIONS!

CONCLUSION

“All scripture is God – breathed and is useful for teaching … and training in righteousness”  2 Timothy 3:16.

God expects us to be well trained in righteousness.  And the scripture is our training manual.  If we are not well trained, we will be unskilled in the use of righteousness as a weapon.

You can be in Christ and be oppressed – intimidated, humiliated and frustrated by the devil.  You can, on the other hand, be in Christ and be in charge - intimidating, humiliating and frustrating the devil.  It all depends on what you know and how you act on what you know.

The righteous are not the fearful, sickly and beggarly species but the bold, healthy and generous type of people.

The scripture says:  “See a king will reign in righteousness, and rulers will rule with justice.  Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land” Isaiah 32:1-2.

The righteous are not the people in need of shelter, refuge, streams of water and shadow of a great rock.  They themselves have individually become a shelter from the wind, a refuge from the storm, streams of water in the desert and shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land to others who do not have or understand the righteousness of God in them.

If you have been taught negatively to see yourself as nobody – a sinner and a wonderer in the world, you need a new mindset:  the mindset of somebody special – the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and a king ordained by God to reign and rule on earth.

The scripture says:  “Be made new in the attitude of your mind” Ephesians 4:23.

From now on, begin to see yourself as the righteousness of God.  See yourself reigning in this life.  See all things working together to ensure your reigning.  See nothing strong enough to stop you from reigning.

Begin to see yourself reigning above sin, above sickness and above lack.  See yourself dominating, influencing and ruling your world positively for God by the enablement of the Holy Spirit.

Righteousness is the rightness of God – the liberty and the ability to do right in you that guarantees you a listening ear and an answered prayer from God.

So take advantage of it today!
