Corinthians 13:1-3
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass,
or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of
prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all
knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am
nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the
poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have
not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Paul made it clear
that even tho we possess the ability to use the Spiritual
Gifts in our administration that for them to be used without
CHARITY ... It is as nothing.
So, we MUST have this CHARITY. It seems pretty darn important
for us to know what CHARITY is tho.

Some say it is the passion to help others or a willingness
to sacrifice self for others. That is NOT what he is
referring to. This is proven when he says:
And though
I bestow all my
goods to feed the poor, and though
I give my body to
be burned,
and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
He said if one gives all they have to the poor and/or
sacrifices their body but has not Charity, it is a useless
action. Many give to the poor to be seen of man so tho they
gave for selfish gain and God knows the heart of man ... It
is vanity. Many torture their body for various reasons but
unless it was done in CHARITY ... It was vanity.
So again, what is CHARITY ...
Most say ... CHARITY is LOVE.
The word Love was used in the
Bible, why did Paul not just say LOVE?
I mean ... He uses
the word "Love" MANY times in His Epistles.
Did you know that the word CHARITY was never used in Old
Testament?
(KJV ... Many have translated the word Charity to
Love in the newer versions of the Bible)
Since we really need to obtain this CHARITY to make our
Spiritual gifts effective, let's explore a lil more ...

Now the end
of the commandment is CHARITY out of a pure
heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith
unfeigned

And above all these things put on CHARITY, which is

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your

This CHARITY is
some powerful stuff ...

We can tell by Paul's words in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 that
it is not WHAT YOU DO ...
But WHY.
The Spiritual gifts must
be used in CHARITY.
So what is CHARITY if not LOVE?
Is there not a SELFISH Love? One that is possessed and
expressed for SELF gain? Maybe this is why Paul used the
word ... CHARITY rather than Love.
Perhaps we have been asking the wrong question. It appears
that it is not what Charity IS but rather what it DOES ...
As it is not a NOUN ... It is a VERB.
Here is what CHARITY ... DOES:

1 Corinthians 13:4-12
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth
not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth
not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth
all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things,
endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but
whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether
there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be
knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part,
and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is
come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a
child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put
away childish things. For now we see through a glass,
darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then
shall I know even as also I am known.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but THE

Is this saying
that CHARITY is greater than FAITH itself?
It is
saying that without CHARITY (Unconditional Love for others)
Your Faith is in vain cuz Jesus has repeated over and over
that LOVING ONE ANOTHER is the most important commandment
besides which one

Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment. And the second is
like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. |
No, you do NOT
need more money or fame to do more for the Lord …
You need more
CHARITY which the Bible makes clear is the most important
ingredient while serving the Lord.
We, as
the Body of Christ can be doing SO much more for the Lord.
You could be reaching out to the souls whom He leads to
cross your path who are reaching out for help. You could
give them a few minutes of your time each day by responding
to their pleas for help and even friendship.
If you
KNOW that there are fellow Christians in need of a hand of
friendship or just someone to say HEY, I care … And you KNOW
the Holy Spirit dwells IN you and wants to use you as a
vessel to reach others and you do not answer the call … What
makes you different than Jonah when He said no and ran off
trying to hide from his calling?
Could
this Christian negligence be why we have so much suffering
in our own lives? Could God be allowing us to endure things
we NEED NOT ENDURE as to have us FEEL what HIS CHILDREN
which we neglected, must feel every day of their lives?
I do
NOT suggest that you should choose to go and do this cuz I
asked it of you. I do not suggest that you should choose to
go do this out of fear of getting in trouble by God. I (as a
fellow Christian and friend) suggest that you should choose
to do this cuz you are a Child of God and so are those who
are crying out for help and it is the CHRISTIAN thing to do.
CHARITY is the epitome
of perfect Christian Love.
An unconditional love for others
which has absolutely no gain to self.
Find yourself DOING this ... And you have found CHARITY.
