            Greetings again to you and welcome back!  It's time to look in again on Moses and the children of Israel as they get ready to enter the Promised Land. 

            It's time again for a little Daily Bread Crumb! Have you ever heard of Gilead?  Gilead is the name of a mountainous region east of the Jordan between the Sea of Chinnereth (Galilee) and the Salt (Dead) Sea.  Well, Gilead was also the name of the great grandson of Joseph from the tribe of Manasseh.  The half tribe of Manasseh that took their inheritance on the east side of the Jordan, coincidently, inherited part of Gilead, so to clear up any confusion, there was first a region called Gilead, and then Machir, the son of Manasseh had a son named Gilead.  It may seem silly, but Gilead inherited part of Gilead!  Watch for the name Gilead in future stories as well.

            It seems the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead were concerned about a problem arising, so they presented it to Moses.  They said, The Lord commanded that the land be given for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel and to include the daughters of our brother Zelophehad.  If they marry someone from another tribe, then their inheritance will be taken from us and given to the tribe they marry into, and when the jubilee is here, their inheritance will be taken from our father's inheritance (Leviticus 25:10).

            Moses told them, The tribe of the sons of Joseph speak the truth.  This is what the Lord commands.  Let the daughters of Zelophehad marry who they think best, but they may only marry into the tribe of their father so the inheritance isn't transferred from tribe to tribe.  In fact, all the children of Israel will keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.  Every woman that gets an inheritance in any tribe will be wife only to someone of the family of her father so everyone can enjoy the inheritance of their fathers.

            This may be where the disapproval of interracial marriage comes from.  Back in those times, not only was God's commandment for Hebrews to marry Hebrews, but oft times they had to marry within the same tribe.  But have the LAWS changed and/or are Christian under the same custom or law?

            The daughters of Zelophehad, did indeed marry within their own tribe and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

            This brings up another point.  In case you didn't get a chance to study through some of the chapters of Leviticus, it's important to remember one major thing that God commanded in Leviticus 25:23:  The land shall not be sold for ever:  for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.  This is one of those things that we discussed earlier that doesn't change with the New Testament.  I have two questions.  #1.)  How long do you think God meant when He said for ever?  #2.)  How much of Israel is no longer owned by Israel because of this new "Peace Covenant" going on in Israel? The False Peace that is going on now between Israel and Palestine is against God's will because in order to maintain the "Peace" (Not be terrorized) Israel had to surrender large portions of GOD'S Promised land. They have surrendered the land and are still being attacked by the Palestinians.

            Here's some food for thought.  Several times now you've heard or seen in our studies that those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed.  Think about this: During the period from the late 40's through the late 60's when the United States supported the Jews, what was the economic prosperity of America like compared to the times that the U.S. hasn't backed Israel unconditionally?  Coincidence?
